Dual Qualified Lawyer in Israel and England
Certified Translation Services
Certified Translation by a Law Firm
Rosenberg Law provides certified and notarised translation between Hebrew and English for use before UK and Israeli authorities. The firm has prepared translations for foreign clients since it was founded in 1975.
The certificate is signed by a lawyer or a notary. Every translation is checked by a qualified and experianced lawyer of the firm who reads both languages before the certificate is issued, and the certificate is drafted to meet the requirement of the particular body that will receive the document.
Our laywers are authorised and regulated by the Israeli Bar Association and the Ministry of Justice of the State of Israel. Eli Rosenberg is admitted as a Solicitor of England and Wales as well. The firm’s lawyers are licensed as Notaries Public by the Israeli Ministry of Justice.

Eli Rosenberg is a dual-qualified Israeli Advocate and Solicitor of England and Wales, and a licensed Israeli Notary Public, with over 20 years in practice. Rosenberg Law was founded in 1975 and is run by the third generation of the family, from permanent offices in London and Tel Aviv.

Professional Responsibility for the Certificate
A certificate of accuracy is a professional statement, and the person who signs it should be answerable for it.
The firm’s certificates are signed by practitioners who are regulated in the jurisdictions in which they are admitted, who carry professional indemnity cover, and who are subject to complaint and disciplinary procedures. A client who instructs the firm receives a certificate that can be tested against professional standards.
Every translation is checked before certification by a lawyer of the firm who reads both the source and the target language.
Whether you are a beneficiary seeking to secure an inheritance, an executor administering an Israeli estate, or a family member dealing with a deceased relative’s affairs in Israel, Rosenberg Law provides the expertise and accessibility that cross-border matters require.

Certified Translations for UK Authorities
Accuracy is proved by a signed and dated statement from the person who did the work, and the standing of the person who signs it matters when a document is queried or contested.
The firm prepares certified translations which satisfies the Home Office, HM Land Registry, most banks and most universities. Where the Immigration Rules require a qualified translator and details of the translator’s credentials, as they do for leave to remain and indefinite leave to remain under Appendix FM-SE, the certificate is drafted to address that requirement on its face.
The form of certification is dictated by the body receiving the document, and it should be settled before the translation is commissioned. Each case turns on its own circumstances, and only a competent and experienced lawyer who has seen the documents can advise on what is required.
Notarised Translations
A notarised translation is a further level of proof. In the ordinary case a notary attests who made the declaration of accuracy, and does not warrant the accuracy of the translation itself unless the notary reads both languages and expressly says so. That distinction is often the reason a certificate is refused.
Notarised translations are generally required for the registration of foreign judgments, for substantial Land Registry applications, and by many overseas authorities. Where a matter is contested, the notarial route is the safer of the alternatives.
Israeli Notarial Translation Certificates
Under section 15 of the Israeli Notaries Law, 5736-1976, a notary who is proficient in both languages and who has prepared or verified the translation may certify the correctness of the translation itself. Section 19 makes a notarial certificate sufficient evidence in legal proceedings of the matters recorded in it.
Three generations of the Rosenberg family have held notarial licences from the Israeli Ministry of Justice. Where a document is going to an Israeli or UK bank, the Land Registry, the Registrar of Inheritance Affairs, a court or an goverment Authority, a notarial translation certificate under section 15 is generally the strongest instrument available.
English Notarial Acts in Hebrew
Where an English notarial act is required, the firm instructs an associated notary public of England and Wales, appointed and regulated through the Faculty Office, who is fluent in English and Hebrew. A notary who reads the source language may certify accuracy directly, and that form of certificate carries greater weight abroad than one recording only who signed a declaration.
Arabic material arises regularly in Israeli property files and in family proceedings, and the same principle applies to it.
Apostilles and Legalisation
An apostille authenticates the signature, the capacity in which the signatory acted and, where appropriate, the seal or stamp. It proves that the notary who signed is genuine.
The document is translated, a notary certifies it, and the apostille is then obtained.
The firm obtains apostilles in both the United Kingdom and Israel. In the UK these are issued by the Legalisation Office of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. In Israel they are issued by the Magistrates’ Court for notarial certificates and through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for public documents. Where the destination country is outside the Hague Convention, consular legalisation is required instead.
Documents the Firm Certifies
01. Court and Litigation Documents
Witness statements, affidavits, exhibits, pleadings and judgments. Courts set their own formalities and they differ between the UK jurisdictions and between types of document. The rules distinguish between a witness statement, where the translator signs a certificate of accuracy, and an affidavit, where the translator swears an affidavit of his own and becomes a deponent in the proceedings. The firm prepares the translation together with the certificate or affidavit in the form the particular proceedings prescribe.
02. Probate and Estate Documents
Wills, death certificates, succession and probate orders, bank and portfolio statements and evidence of domicile. Registry practice is to accept a translation verified by affidavit or statement of truth, or a notarial translation, and the current requirement should be confirmed in the individual case.
03. Property and Corporate Documents
Land Registry extracts, title documents, powers of attorney, contracts of sale, planning correspondence and company filings. HM Land Registry requires documentation in a language other than English or Welsh to be accompanied by a certified or notarised translation, and for a foreign power of attorney requires a verified translation of the power and a certified translation of any supporting legal opinion. For corporate filings the Companies Act allocates the risk of a discrepancy between the original and the certified translation to the filing company.
04. Civil Status, Identity and Military Documents
Birth, marriage and divorce certificates, Population Registry extracts, identity documents and army discharge papers.
05. Rabbinical and Handwritten Documents
A ketubah, a get, a rabbinical court decision, a burial society record or an old cemetery register. These combine Hebrew and Aramaic, may be handwritten, and their legal effect depends on wording that a literal translation does not carry. The firm handles such material because it arrives inside probate, family and property files, and can explain to an English tribunal what the instrument is as well as what it says.
06. Medical and Clinical Records
Records used in personal injury and clinical negligence claims, human rights immigration applications, insurance claims and capacity assessments. Israeli clinical notes mix Hebrew with English drug names and Latin abbreviations, and discharge summaries use abbreviations that do not map onto UK usage.
07. Academic Certificates and Transcripts
Degree certificates, matriculation certificates and transcripts. Certified translations are required where documents are not in English, and each institution sets its own requirement.
Working Without Travel
The firm was established to serve clients who are not in the place where the matter is being handled. A clear scan is enough to begin work in the great majority of cases, and the certificate records that the translation was made from a copy.
Certified translations are delivered as an e-signed PDF, and as a wet ink hard copy by post where the receiving body requires one. Clients do not need to travel to Israel and do not need to attend the Israeli consulate in London.
Fees
The firm’s fees are reasonable, proportionate, and agreed on a case-by-case basis. Fee arrangements are discussed openly at the outset, and estimates are provided before substantive work commences. Urgent and same day work may be possible depending on the material and current capacity.
Timescales for legalisation depend on the Legalisation Office in the United Kingdom and on the courts and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Israel, and any indication given is an estimate rather than an undertaking.
